Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I came to the shelter in early 2011. I was abandoned on Highway 25 outside of Flowood and was rescued by a nice group of home health agency employees.

My Story:

My name is Homie and just like my name suggests, I will be a great addition to yours. I love to play and with some good positive reinforcement I will be the best dog to any loving family. I love the outdoors and can play for hours before wanting to go inside for some snuggles. I am friendly and hoping to spend Memorial Day with my new best friend!

Owner Give-up

My Story:

I am happy to say that my background is not the same as a lot of my friends here at MARL. I was loved very much by my owner, but she was unable to see to my basic needs the way we were accustomed. She loved me so much that she gave me to MARL so that they could find me a new family who could love me as much as she did. I want to make her proud of me by showing off the good manners that she taught me. So I am hopeful that a wonderful person will come to take me home and give me a shot at a new, and loving home!

Neko needs a home!

Meet Neko

  • Where cat is located now: Contact Daphne at 601.720.5275 for more information
  • Name: Neko
  • Age: approx. 2 years
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Color: Black/White
  • Size: Med, Average Cat
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained (litter box trained): Yes
  • Medical Information: Special needs kitty looking for a Special Family
  • Interaction with Kids: Good
  • Interaction with Dogs: Not known
  • Interaction with Cats: Good if introduced appropriately

Ideal type of home:

One that will smother Neko with enormous amounts of TLC- INDOOR ONLY!

My Story:

My story goes back to when I was a tiny baby kitten. I got tossed around like a stuffed toy and was hit in the head repeatedly by some mean people. They were going to put me in a sack and run over me in a car but I was rescued in the nick of time by a young girl who saw what was happening. My eyes did not look right. She took me to the vet and he said that the head trauma I experienced caused irreversible neurological problems which damaged my peripheral vision. The damage that occurred is equivalent to what happens with shaken baby syndrome. I cannot see 100%, so it is necessary for me to be an INDOOR ONLY kitty. I have been with this family for two years. My mommy had a baby recently who has been in and out of the hospital in the past few months and the Dr. says it is because she is allergic to me. Unfortunately I have to find a new home. I am a lap kitty and I love human contact despite what happened to me at the hands of some mean humans earlier in my life. I want a home where I can sleep next to my new human every night. I want a home where I will feel loved and safe. Other than my vision limitations, I am a very healthy kitty. Won't you please consider adopting me?

Gracie & Stella needs a home!

Meet Gracie & Stella

  • Where dog is located now: ARF
  • Name: Gracie & Stella
  • Age: around 4 months
  • Sex: Females
  • Breed: Shepherd/Hound mixes
  • Color: Tan/White
  • Size (when full grown): Medium
  • Neutered/Spayed: Not yet
  • House Trained (litter box trained): Not yet
  • Medical Information: Healthy
  • Interaction with Kids: Good
  • Interaction with Dogs: Good
  • Interaction with Cats: Good
  • Ideal type of home: We want a warm, welcoming family who will love us and never abandon us again.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

We were found in the woods, abandoned and left to fend for ourselves.

My Story:

My name is Stella and I am the white one with brown spots, and shorter hair. Since I consider myself to be the wiser, and older sister, I made it my duty to see to it that we got through our time on our own safely. Gracie and I have survived some pretty scary situations at a young age, which has left me a little untrusting of people. But, I am learning very quickly that most people are very kind. After a few treats and some love, I warm up quite nicely. My sister Gracie is a big ball of fur and just loves to play with everyone. Though we were a little unsocial when we first came here, we are still very young and as quickly as we are progressing, soon there will be no signs of our fearful past at all. Now that we are learning what it means to be happy and loving pups, we are well on our way to being a great addition to any loving family!
