Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I am another victim of the MS River flood.

My Story:

I was in the Vicksburg Pound when Paws Rescue learned that our shelter was going to be under water soon. Thankfully, they came to get me and all of my friends out before the building flooded. I am in a foster home right now and having a blast because I was living in a cage at the pound. I am so happy that these nice folks cared enough about me to take me in, teach me a few doggie-manners like "sit" and "down" and work so hard to find me a forever-family. I don't know what it's like to have a forever family, but it sure does sound nice to have someone that you can depend on. Someone to wait by the door for. Someone to snuggle with at night. Wow, that sounds so heavenly! Until my forever-best-friend comes to take me home I am making the best of it here. I love to play with the other dogs and I sure would like to play with the cat, but he is so lazy that all he does is lie around. I hope my new best friend will be patient with me while I learn all the things that he or she has to teach me, but in the end I promise to be the best friend, and companion, that a dog can possibly be.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I was found by a mighty-fine Scottish man who actually even wears a kilt on Fridays. He found me running the streets and looking for someone who cares.

My Story:

I am a sweet dog that is a bit wary of new people at first but I warm up very quickly once I know I can trust you. The kindly kilt-wearing lad brought me to the ARF farm last fall, and though he checks on me regularly, he is hopeful that someone will hear my call for a loving person to take me into their warm home and I can call it my own. I hope that someone will chose me to be the one they can love and adore, chose me to run and play with, chose me to throw a Frisbee to, chose me call "friend".

Thelma & Louise needs a home!

Meet Thelma & Louise

  • Where animal is located now: ARF
  • Name: Thelma & Louise
  • Age: 4-5 Years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Cattle Dog Mix
  • Color: Blonde
  • Size: Medium
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained: No
  • Medical Information: Healthy
  • Interaction with Kids: Good
  • Interaction with Dogs: Good
  • Interaction with Cats: Unknown

My Story:

We are sisters. . . twin sisters. . . and we love having fun together. We are a cattle-dog breed so we love to do things and be active. We would love to go to a home together, but if we have to be separated just to get a home, we will learn to be happy without one another. We love to sleep in a crate at night and we even keep it clean. You can't wish for a more fun loving pair of girls EVER! If you have a minute to stop by and visit us, we'd love the company; you can even take us for a walk down by the lake. There are no strings attached just to visit.

Scooter needs a home!

Meet Scooter

  • Where animal is located now: MARL
  • Name: Scooter
  • Age: 2 Years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Heeler Mix
  • Color: Black Merle
  • Size: Medium
  • Neutered/Spayed: No
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Medical Information: Healthy & UTD on shots
  • Interaction with Kids: Ok with Children
  • Interaction with Dogs: N/A
  • Interaction with Cats: N/A
  • Ideal type of home: Since I am a Heeler, I love to have a job to do. I would be ideal on a farm, pasture land or someplace where I can at least be involved in your life. I would make a great companion for someone who likes to walk, run, hike, boat, bike or pretty much do anything besides just sit on the couch. I am not a couch-potato's ideal companion.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I had a family and I miss them so much, but they decided that they just didn't want me anymore so they turned me over to Animal Control.

My Story:

It is difficult to live in a shelter when you are used to having a home. My home wasn't perfect; they didn't always feed me, they didn't give me a lot of attention and I wasn't always high on their priority list, but at least I had a place to call home. Here it is loud, cold, and not comforting at all. I know the shelter staff does their best to care for us, and I appreciate their care, but there is nothing in the world like having a place to call home. I'm not a cute little tea-cup puppy that fits in a little girl's bicycle basket, but I am a loyal friend that has a lot to offer anyone who cares enough to take me home. I am a smart girl and will try my best to please any person who cares to give me a chance. There is no commitment to just visit me at the shelter, in fact, I would love the company. Then, if you like me, please take me to a place that I can call HOME!
