Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

My heart is broken. I had a great home and a best friend, until she passed away and has left me devastated. My owner's son is in college and he is so sad right now; not only has he lost his mom but he is also losing me. . . his best friend. He has been trying desperately to find a place at college where he can keep me but hasn't been able to find one he can afford. My mom's dear friend has been taking great care of me but I can't stay here forever because she is allergic to me. So, while I sit here pondering what will happen to me, I wish for a new happy home.

My Story:

I would love to be a child's best friend; but then again someone older and slower would really enjoy my calm, but silly antics; however, a single person would be awesome because they could dote on me and I would their best friend. No matter who decides to make me a part of their home, it will be wonderful with me because I am a dog that will be happy wherever I am loved. Here, at my foster home I run and play with a "mellow poodle" and a "wild and crazy poodle" that comes to visit, so I think I could along well with just about anyone, human or canine. I love to run circles in the yard chasing one of the dogs, and I even enjoy when they chase me. Oh, I love to play with balls and toys too! I have a very regal look about me, with my pointed ears that are so alert and my beautiful coloring. I love to sleep on the bed at night and I really enjoy being able to go out a doggie door when I need to potty. A doggie door isn't necessary for me to be happy, but it sure does make it convenient. My foster mom prays every night that the perfect person will fall in love with me the way she has. I am a very special dog and a great companion to live with because I have great house-hold manners.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

You won't believe this but I got to where I am now by SWIMMING! The nice folks that brought me to ARF found me swimming up to their backyard from the Reservoir about 4 months ago.

My Story:

I was looking for something that day, four months ago, and I am still looking today. . . for a kind family. I am a classic Basset Hound~ super cute and extremely affectionate. However, I am also true to my breed in that I will take off in any direction that my nose takes me. So, my new family will need to keep a close eye on me and always keep me on a leash when away from home. Don't worry, though, that is just fine by me because I love going on long walks and hanging out with people. To see for yourself, come see me today!

My Story:

I have a lot of energy, but I am also extremely affectionate and want to be near you at all times so I can't wait to be a personal companion. I am a good puppy and I am already leash trained. None of us have been adopted yet, so please come visit us and you can take your pick!

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I am one of the several dogs that ARF rescued from the horrible shelter in Louisiana that euthanizes dogs via gas chamber. I have been here 8 months and it is time that I get my chance to know how wonderful a loving home is.

My Story:

I am a sweet, small sized Labrador mix with a cute gray chest and a few white toes. I have a little bit of energy when I am first able to get out of my kennel run, but I calm down tremendously after a nice walk. I enjoy being with people and I really enjoy walking on a leash. I am another classic example of a dog overlooked because of my color, just another example of "black dog syndrome" (black dogs being overlooked as plain or threatening). I am searching for the perfect ending to my already good story. Remember, ARF saved me from death row. . . now you can save me from a life in a shelter.
