  • Ideal type of home: I am young and still have a lot of energy, so I will need lots of open space or a big fenced yard.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

My foster parents found me on a fishing trip in south Louisiana and brought me to their home in MS until I could find a forever home of my own.

My Story:

When my kind foster family found me, I was just wandering in search of food and comfort. I was so happy that someone offered me a kind hand that I just hopped right in with them. They have fattened me up and taught me a thing, or two, and now I am ready to go. I love to fetch sticks and play ball in the backyard, in fact, I would even make a great running partner. I am house trained and kennel trained. During the day I love to explore and play outside and then at night they bring me into the garage where I can sleep in my kennel. If you think you can open your heart and home to me, I promise to be your best friend forever! If you'd like to know more about me, please call my foster mom- Betsy McKee at 601-212-6532

Chance needs a home!

Meet Chance

  • Where animal is located now: MARL
  • Name: Chance
  • Age: 2 Years
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Color: Black
  • Size: Large
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained: No
  • Medical Information: Healthy & UTD on shots
  • Interaction with Kids: Good with Kids
  • Interaction with Dogs: Ok
  • Interaction with Cats: Ok
  • Ideal type of home: I am not a finicky type of dog that has any special needs or requests. All I want out of life is to be loved and cared for forever. I'm a no-fuss-guy with lots of love to give!

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

I had a home but my owner couldn't keep me anymore so they brought me to MARL.

My Story:

I am a great, fun loving guy who loves kids. I am a great mixture of calm and playfulness. I'm pretty much the perfect backyard dog and playmate; I will even be a wonderful family pet and a good watch dog. Since I am a Lab, I would love the opportunity to play in the water a little, or maybe even accompany you on a hunt in the woods. I have been here for three months now, and in dog years that's a LONG TIME!

I was featured on Fox 40 in September, as Pet of the Week. I just don't know why no one has come to get me. I guess I will fall victim to the typical "Black Dog Syndrome," we just somehow seem to get overlooked at the shelters. However, I promise that I am just as sweet, loving, friendly and caring as any of those fluffy, yappy, needy-type dogs.

Valentine needs a home!

Meet Valentine

  • Where animal is located now: ARF
  • Name: Valentine
  • Age: 5 years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Cattle Dog mix
  • Color: Cream
  • Size: Medium
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Medical Information: Healthy & UTD on shots
  • Interaction with Kids: Good
  • Interaction with Dogs: I need to be the only dog, please.
  • Interaction with Cats: Unknown
  • Ideal type of home: I would rather be the only dog in the household, please. I have lived on concrete all of my life and as a result, have developed a bit of a disk problem so I will need a loving home where I can have slow walks and not get pounced on by other dogs.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

My owner surrendered me in 2009 because they were having a baby. I never really understood getting rid of the existing baby (me!), to make room for another baby, but they didn't ask me...they just dumped me.

My Story:

I am a very sweet girl who loves people and desperately wants a home where life will be easier than living on a concrete floor at the shelter. I haven't even reached middle age yet, and I have over half my life left to live, I just hope that someone will see my happy smile and realize that I deserve to have a nice, fluffy dog bed where I can rest my little head. The good thing about adopting a dog at 5 years old is that you don't have to worry with all of the bad-habits of puppy hood. I am mature and ready to move in and be a good girl!

  • Ideal type of home: I will be happy in any loving home!

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

My brother, Brando, and I were lost in the woods when we wandered up to a nice little church in the country about 3 weeks ago. We were very small and hungry, but since we were taken to ARF we have been wonderfully cared for ever since.

My Story:

Now, I am healthy, strong and beautiful. I have a wonderful disposition and I'm super fun to play with. I know you won't believe that I am so smart that I am already completely crate trained! Yep, that's right, and my brother is too. We had a tough start to life and we learned very quickly how difficult surviving can be when you don't have someone loving to take care of you. So we are both determined to be good boys so that we will get (and keep) a good home. If you are interested in giving one of us a good home, please call or email my friends at ARF and they will tell you all about me.

Stella & Hazel need a home!

Meet Stella & Hazel

  • Where animal is located now: Paws Rescue
  • Name: Stella & Hazel
  • Age: 4 Years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Lab Mixes
  • Color: Black & White and Brown & Tan
  • Size: Medium
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Medical Information: Healthy
  • Interaction with Kids: Only older ones
  • Interaction with Dogs: Good
  • Interaction with Cats: Good
  • Ideal type of home: Our perfect home would be a quiet one with lots of love to give because we have a lot to give in return. We are sisters and since we have been together since birth, we really need to be adopted together. However, you can't go wrong with us because we are great dogs with good manners.

Where I came from/ How I came to the Shelter:

We were former residents of Paws Rescue, but then we were adopted by a wonderful family a few years ago. However, they fell on financial hard times and thought it would be best to give us the chance at a new loving family that would be better suited to take care of us. We miss them terribly but they taught us a lot of good manners and habits that will help us find a new home.

My Story:

We are very sweet girls, house broken, spayed, healthy and current on shots. We sure hope someone sees our need and welcomes us into their home because we sure don't want to grow old in a shelter.
